Why I visited President Tinubu – Gov. Soludo
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has revealed why he showed up at the Presidential Villa for a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting in Aso Rock, Soludo said his visit was driven by support for the president’s administration and the “bold steps” Tinubu is taking to fix Nigeria’s struggling economy.
But the former CBN governor went further, urging political parties nationwide to see themselves as progressives and to unite in a coalition for the good of the country’s democracy.
“President Tinubu is my friend; he has been my friend for 22 years now and counting, so you don’t deny your friend,” Soludo declared.
The governor, who belongs to a different political party, said friendship and national interest come first. “I support him, and I’m impressed by the bold steps he has taken, particularly in the areas of the economy and structural reforms. I’ve said it severally — we’re taking the right steps, and we need to stay the course,” he added.
Soludo described the meeting as “pleasant” and noted that Tinubu appeared to be in high spirits.
