The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has issued a series of sanctions following several breaches of regulations during the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024 tournament.

The decisions were made during a recent disciplinary hearing addressing incidents involving Zambia, Kenya, and Morocco.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been fined USD 5,000 after failing to comply with CAF’s Media Regulations.

The breach occurred during the Match Day 1 press conference, where Zambia did not present their head coach as required ahead of their fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo. CAF emphasized the importance of adhering to media obligations during major tournaments to ensure proper communication and promotion of the event.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) received a fine of USD 50,000 for multiple safety and security violations during their CHAN 2024 match against Morocco, which was held at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

CAF raised concerns about the lack of adequate security measures and non-compliance with matchday road closure protocols. In addition to the fine, FKF was issued a warning that continued non-compliance may lead to Kenya’s national team matches being relocated to alternative venues.

CAF urged FKF to improve security planning by deploying sufficient personnel and ensuring all logistical requirements are met on match days.

The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) was also sanctioned for the inappropriate conduct of its players during the same match against Kenya.

A fine of USD 5,000 was imposed, with USD 2,500 of that amount suspended on the condition that no similar incidents occur during the remainder of CHAN 2024.

All fines must be paid within 60 days of the official notification. CAF reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, safety, and professionalism across all its competitions.

The 8th African Nations Championship is currently ongoing in Kenya with 24 teams hosting for the covered trophy.

ANC is a CAF organized competition for players ply their trade in their country’s league.
