President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday, August 14, embark on a two-nation trip to Japan and Brazil, with a stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

This is contained in a statement issued by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday.

In Japan, he said the President would participate in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.

Themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa”, the summit will focus on driving Africa’s economic transformation, improving its business environment and institutions through private investment and innovation, and building a resilient and sustainable society for peace and stability.

Onanuga added that Tinubu would join plenary sessions, hold bilateral meetings, and meet Japanese CEOs with investments in Nigeria.

Established in 1993 by Japan and co-hosted by the UN, UNDP, African Union Commission, and World Bank, TICAD is held every three years in Japan or Africa, with the last edition in Tunisia in 2022.

From Japan, Onanuga said Tinubu would proceed to Brazil for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25, at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The visit will feature bilateral talks, a business forum, and the signing of agreements and MoUs to strengthen Nigeria–Brazil cooperation.

He added that the President would be accompanied by key ministers and senior government officials.
