Why Peter Obi will never return to PDP – ADC reveals

We're the problem of Nigeria, pray for us, Peter Obi urges Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has no plans to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bolaji Abdullahi, Interim National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, described the PDP as being afflicted by a “virus” that has no cure, insisting that Obi is aware of the party’s challenges.

He said the PDP’s alleged attempts to lure Obi back are part of a strategy to find a “poster boy” to repair its damaged image.

Abdullahi added that Obi remains an active member of the ADC-led coalition and that the party has not received any communication from him indicating otherwise.

“What I am saying is that anybody can talk to anybody. But if he comes back to us as party leaders to say my position has changed, has he told us that? The answer is no,” Abdullahi said.

He noted that Obi’s nominees are already in leadership positions within the ADC and the coalition, reinforcing the former governor’s commitment.

“You see, PDP is PDP. They are looking for a poster boy to repair their battered image. In the order of opposition ranking, Labour Party ranks higher than PDP. PDP is now number four, ahead of NNPP. So why should we be bothered? Peter Obi knows the virus that has afflicted PDP has no cure,” he added.

Reports had suggested that Obi met with top PDP officials as part of consultations for a possible return ahead of the 2027 presidential election. However, the Obidient Movement maintains that he remains committed to the Labour Party and is likely to contest under its platform.
