Ogun State First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late son, Olugbemiga Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Olu, who would have celebrated his birthday today, August 14.
The young entertainer died alongside his friend, Chime, on October 7, 2017, at the age of 24.
In an emotional message shared on her social media page, Mrs Abiodun reflected on the pain of losing him and the void his absence continues to create in her life.
Quoting words from her daughter in 2017, she wrote: “Mummy, you know, no matter how happy a situation is for us following this, it will never be complete because Gbemiga will not be there. We have to learn to live with that.”
She admitted that the reality of his absence hits harder on days like his birthday, adding that even her happiness is “interrupted by the jolt of reality.”
“Despite my faith in God, I am honest with myself enough to know this is an enduring pain… imagining what you would look like, all the plans you had for yourself and for me. My heart breaks as I write this,” she said.
The First Lady prayed for his continued rest, saying she would always cherish his memory: “My Gbemiga, continue to rest in peace… I love you this birthday, and always.”
