Tearful Kim confronts Kanye in explosive doc: ‘Your personality wasn’t like this’. In the trailer for the upcoming documentary In Whose Name?
In the trailer for the upcoming documentary In Whose Name?, reality star Kim Kardashian is seen breaking down in tears, pleading with her then-husband: “Your personality was not like this a few years ago!”
The tense exchange which was filmed when the two were still married saw Kim in a visibly distressed state, as Kanye, aka Ye, reveals he has been off his bipolar medication for five months.
His words: “I’d rather be dead than be on medication. Either they destroy me or I destroy it.”
The two-minute trailer, released Wednesday on YouTube, explores Ye’s journey from being a rapper to one of the most controversial figures in modern pop culture. It’s packed with private moments, creative highs, emotional breakdowns, and glimpses of his life with their four children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
Directed by Nico Ballesteros, who shadowed Ye for six years, the film shows his rise to becoming the richest Black man in American history, his religious awakening through Sunday Service, and his battles with mental health.
Notably, it skirts some of his more recent scandals but does feature his presidential run, fashion empire, and deeply personal moments — from crying at Coachella to speaking in prisons.
Kim’s appearances are brief but searing, adding emotional weight to a project Ye himself seems to treat as both confession and art.
The documentary premieres September 19.
