IPAC reacts to Remo By-election, begins Independent review

The Ogun State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has responded publicly for the first time following the recently concluded by-election in the Remo/Ikenne/Sagamu Federal Constituency, which took place on August 16, 2025.
Speaking to the press, the State Chairman of IPAC, Comrade Sanyaolu Abayomi, revealed that the council has started gathering detailed reports and feedback from all stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
These include political parties, observers, local leaders, and voters from the affected areas.
Comrade Sanyaolu explained that IPAC’s goal is to carry out a thorough and impartial assessment of the election, ensuring that all relevant voices and perspectives are considered.
He announced that a full press release will be issued soon, outlining the council’s official position on the conduct and outcome of the election.
“Our aim is to produce a report that reflects the reality on the ground. We are taking our time to gather and analyze information from every angle before making a public declaration,” he said.
He also reassured the public that IPAC remains strongly committed to promoting peaceful elections, transparency in the democratic process, and fairness in political participation throughout Ogun State.
The Remo by-election was held on August 16 to fill the seat previously occupied by the late Honourable Onanuga.
It saw intense competition among major political parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Labour Party.
As attention remains focused on the credibility and impact of the by-election, the findings and recommendations from IPAC’s review are expected to influence ongoing conversations around electoral reforms and democratic standards in the state
