La Liga: Super Eagles player, named man of the match in Getafe win

Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche was named Man of the Match after leading Getafe to a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo in their opening game of the 2025-26 La Liga season on Sunday.

Uche played a key role in the win, assisting the first goal in the 47th minute for teammate Adrian Liso, and scoring the second himself in the 72nd minute.

He played the entire match and was a standout performer, underlining his growing importance to the team.

Last season, Uche recorded four goals and six assists in 33 league matches for Getafe.

In May, he made his debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles during the Unity Cup against Jamaica, where he scored the winning penalty that secured the trophy for Nigeria.

Getafe will face Sevilla next Monday, while Celta Vigo will take on Mallorca on Saturday.
