The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has come out swinging against viral social media claims that its Managing Director and Kannywood legend, Ali Nuhu, is dead.

The rumours, which spread like wildfire on Facebook and WhatsApp, alleged that Nuhu had died in a ghastly car accident. Some even shared videos “mourning” the actor-turned-film boss.

But in a strongly-worded statement late Monday, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, dismissed the reports as a pack of lies.

“Ali Nuhu is alive, well, and fully discharging his duties as Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation,” the statement read.

Etuk condemned the “malicious and injurious” fake news, warning that those behind it will face consequences.

“These dastardly acts, no matter how ‘innocent’ they appear, will not go unpunished. Measures are already in motion to track down the perpetrators and their sponsors,” he added.

The Corporation urged Nigerians to disregard the rumours, stressing that the celebrated actor remains active since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in February 2024.

Meanwhile, fans and industry stakeholders who panicked over the fake news have been urged to remain calm, as the NFC assured that Ali Nuhu is very much alive and at work.
