Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been crowned the 2025 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year, securing the prestigious award for a record-breaking third time.

Aston Villa’s rising star Morgan Rogers was named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

The announcements, made at a gala ceremony at the Manchester Opera House, celebrate the standout performers of the 2024-25 Premier League season, as voted by their fellow professionals.

Salah, the 33-year-old Egyptian forward, dominated the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists in 38 Premier League matches, helping Liverpool clinch their second title in five years under manager Arne Slot.

His 47 goal involvements matched the all-time record for a single Premier League season, set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole in 42-game campaigns, and secured him a fourth Golden Boot, tying Thierry Henry’s record.

This marks Salah’s third PFA Player of the Year award, following wins in 2017-18 and 2021-22, making him the first player to achieve this feat.

He outshone a competitive shortlist including Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

The “Egyptian King” also claimed the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year award earlier this year with a historic 90% of the vote, the largest margin this century, and Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Season award for the fifth time.

His consistent excellence, with 245 goals for Liverpool and 186 in the Premier League, places him fifth on the competition’s all-time scoring list, one behind Andrew Cole.

Salah’s impact extended beyond statistics, with his intelligent decision-making and playmaking earning praise from analysts and peers alike.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year award after a breakout season, registering eight goals and 10 assists in his first full Premier League campaign.

The former Manchester City academy product, who joined Villa in January 2024, impressed with his versatility and dynamic performances, beating out nominees including Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, Ipswich’s Liam Delap, Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, and Brighton’s Joao Pedro.

Rogers’ rise reflects Villa’s growing stature under Unai Emery, with the club securing European football for the 2025-26 season.
