“The Soludo administration will not condone brutality or abuse of office. Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution,” he said.
The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight members of the Agunechemba Security outfit following their assault on a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elobor.
The incident, captured in a viral video earlier this week, showed armed operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi (also known as the Agunechemba Vigilante Group) assaulting Elobor, who is currently serving in the state. The operatives reportedly stormed the corps members’ residence, falsely accusing them of internet fraud and cultism.
Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, confirmed the dismissal, stating that the officers acted outside their mandate and would be handed over to police for prosecution.
Emeakayi added that the state had paid Elobor’s medical bills, replaced her damaged belongings, and issued a public apology to her and the NYSC.
“The Soludo administration will not condone brutality or abuse of office. Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution,” he said.
