The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has arrived in Lagos on her first official visit to the state since assuming office, with a packed agenda focused on women empowerment and industrial development.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who received the First Lady, described her visit as a testament to her unwavering commitment to the welfare of women, children, and families across the country.

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Governor disclosed that the First Lady would on Saturday present empowerment items to over 1,000 women at the Lagos State House, Alausa, Ikeja.

The initiative forms part of her broader drive to support women with practical resources for economic independence.

The visit will also feature the inauguration of the Lagos Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, Mushin, a facility described as the largest of its kind in West Africa.

The hub is expected to serve as a centre for training, production, and innovation in Nigeria’s leather industry, opening new opportunities for jobs and enterprise.

Governor Sanwo-Olu called on Lagos residents to extend a warm welcome to the First Lady, praising her initiatives as a source of hope for vulnerable communities.

“Her initiatives bring hope and practical support to those who need them most, and I am proud that Lagos is the setting for this important work,” the Governor stated.

He further noted that the First Lady’s programmes resonate with Lagos State’s values of unity, inclusion, and shared prosperity, underscoring the synergy between the state and the Office of the First Lady in advancing development.
