The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has lauded the official visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing it as a significant gesture that reinforces her enduring connection to Lagos.

Speaking during the First Lady’s engagement with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and political stakeholders, Obasa expressed appreciation for her presence, noting that it instills a renewed sense of pride and awareness among Lagosians.

“It’s very good to have her back in Lagos. She has always been our mother first as Lagos State’s First Lady and now as the First Lady of the Federation. Her visit, well-organised and widely announced, sends a clear message that she remains committed to the state’s progress,” Obasa said.

He commended the First Lady’s focus on developmental initiatives, including food security, poverty alleviation, and outreach to traditional rulers, noting that her efforts align with both constitutional responsibilities and community needs.

He also highlighted a promising proposal inspired by the First Lady’s visit: the establishment of a dedicated institution to groom girls for leadership.

“One key issue raised was leadership training for the girl child. I agree completely. Beyond legislation, we must intentionally raise the consciousness of our girls toward leadership and future responsibilities. It’s an initiative we will take seriously and explore further,” he stated.
