A 50-year-old tailor, Kehinde Obateru on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly threatening the lives of one Oyinbo Omoge and her son, Destiny Omoge.
The defendant whose address was not provided, was facing a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and threat to life, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha told the court that the defendant, on July 16 around 10:00 a.m at Hospital Road, Okitipupa in Okitipupa magisterial district, conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
Omoyeigha said that the defendant and complaint were embroiled in an argument over an undisclosed issue, during which she used abusive language on the complainant, calling her five-year-old son a bastard.
The prosecutor added that the defendant threatened to kill the complainant and her son if they did not avoid her at all costs.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 249(d) and 86, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum, adding that the surety must present evidence of two years tax clearance, paid to the state government.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 3 for further hearing. (NAN)
