FUOYE has dismissed a report alleging that its Senate was plotting to remove the Governing Council Chairman, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina.

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has dismissed a viral report alleging that its Senate was plotting to remove the Governing Council Chairman, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina.

The institution described the publication as fake, baseless, and crafted from a forged document.

In a statement on Saturday, the University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mufutau Ibrahim, said the story published by an online platform was “unfounded and without merit.”

“The phony press statement relied on by the medium was not signed by anyone, did not come from Senate, and had nothing to do with FUOYE,” he said.

According to him, the Senate never indicted the Pro-Chancellor or the VC on any matter, nor does the Senate issue press statements after its meetings. He stressed that only the Registrar has the statutory authority to release Senate decisions.

The university management urged the public to disregard the publication completely and called on security agencies to track down those behind the forged document.

Meanwhile, FUOYE Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, also dismissed the report, saying the Senate had no such agenda.

“The report is baseless and unfounded as it never emanated from the Senate of the university,” Shittu declared, while pledging loyalty to the Pro-Chancellor, Governing Council, and substantive VC, Prof. Fasina.
