The event was organized in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has supported 500 women across all 33 local government areas of Oyo State through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The event was organized in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The women received items such as deep freezers, gas cookers with ovens, generators, and industrial grinding machines to help them start or grow their businesses.
At the event held at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Ibadan, Mrs. Tinubu was represented by the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde.
She said the programme reflects President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on including everyone, growing the economy, and supporting women.
She noted that empowering women helps achieve important global development goals, especially those focused on gender equality and decent jobs. She encouraged the women to use the items wisely to improve their businesses and their lives.
Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the President’s aide on SDGs, said the initiative is part of a national effort to support women in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. She praised the First Lady’s dedication to improving the lives of Nigerian women and helping them become self-reliant.
Mrs. Toyin Balogun, Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, also praised the initiative, calling it a strong example of how to uplift women. She advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items but to use them to build sustainable businesses.
Some of the women who received the support thanked the First Lady, saying it would help reduce their financial stress.
