Joao Pedro believes Chelsea’s strong team spirit helped them come back from an early goal to beat West Ham 5-1.
The Brazilian forward played a big role in the win, scoring his first Premier League goal for Chelsea and providing two assists. After West Ham took the lead early on, Chelsea responded with goals from Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernandez before halftime.
In the second half, Moises Caicedo scored on his 100th Chelsea appearance, and Trevoh Chalobah finished off the scoring with a fifth goal.
Joao Pedro praised the team’s mentality and togetherness after the match.
“We started the game one goal down, but we showed our togetherness to come back and win,” he said. “We know how strong our team is. Even though Cole Palmer wasn’t available, Estevao Willian stepped in and played well. It’s great to have so many good players.”
He also said that having different players score helps build confidence throughout the team.
“Winning away from home is important. Even if we go behind in a game, if we have confidence, we can come back.”
Joao Pedro shared how being part of Chelsea has been a great experience so far. He also spoke about the strong connection between Brazilian players and the club.
“Many Brazilians have made history here, and I hope to do the same. I’ve wanted to join a big team for a long time, so I came here full of energy to take my chance. I’m happy to have scored and helped the team today.”
He also mentioned how much he values the support of Chelsea fans:
“In Brazil, the bond between fans and players is very strong. I want to give my best every time to make the fans proud. I’m happy to play in front of them and show our qualities.
