Detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has taken his battle beyond the courtroom, petitioning the NBA against three top judges, accusing them of gross misconduct.

Detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has taken his battle beyond the courtroom, petitioning the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) against three top judges, accusing them of gross misconduct.

Kanu, who has been in DSS custody since his extraordinary rendition from Kenya in June 2021, fingered Justices Binta Nyako, Haruna Tsammani, and Garba Lawal for allegedly twisting the law to keep him in detention.

In a petition, personally signed and released through his lawyer, Umesi, the IPOB leader said the judges committed a miscarriage of justice in his trial.

He urged the NBA, currently holding its conference in Enugu, to sanction the judges, publish a damning report, and declare that no Nigerian should ever again be abducted or tried under a repealed law.

“The catalogue of infractions by these judges now stands as an un-erasable blot on Nigeria’s legal conscience,” Kanu thundered.

He further called on the NBA to restore confidence in the judiciary by holding “errant judges accountable.”
