The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has ordered the arrest of a former staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, after he appeared on a popular online matchmaking programme hosted by entertainer Lege Miami.
Folarin, who was identified during a TikTok live session on Lege Miami’s dating platform, sparked reactions from viewers who questioned his link to the anti-graft agency. The video quickly went viral, prompting inquiries directed at the EFCC.
In a statement issued Monday on its official X handle, the commission clarified that Folarin was no longer in its service. It said he was dismissed from the Ibadan Zonal Directorate for certificate forgery, where he had worked as a driver.
The EFCC added that its chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered Folarin’s arrest because he was still in possession of some commission property, including an identity card, which should have been returned upon his dismissal.
“The EFCC condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in the matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami’s social media platforms.
He was dismissed for certificate forgery, and the public is advised not to associate his post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC,” the statement reads.
