Carney Chukwuemeka officially dumps Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund have sealed up England youth international Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea on a five-year contract.

The 21-year-old had impressed on loan at the German club last season, forcing Dortmund to go all out for a permanent deal worth around £24m.

Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 but struggled to cement a regular spot, making 32 appearances before the Bundesliga switch.

Meanwhile, Blues defender Aaron Anselmino is also heading to Dortmund on loan for the season.

With the latest exits, Chelsea’s player sales this summer have crossed £270m, a major balancing act after splashing nearly £277m on new arrivals.

Uefa had warned the London club to keep their transfer books clean or risk Champions League registration trouble.

More exits could still follow before Monday’s deadline, with Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell all linked with moves away.
