Former Nigerian international, Victor Ikpeba, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will revive their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes with victories against Rwanda and South Africa.
The Super Eagles, under new coach Eric Chelle, have struggled in the qualifiers with only one win from six matches, leaving them in fourth place with seven points. Group leaders South Africa currently sit on 13 points after the same number of games.
Nigeria will host Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, September 6, before traveling to Bloemfontein four days later to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Ikpeba, a former Monaco striker, believes the players now understand the urgency of the task ahead.
“There’s pride, determination and honour in playing for your country. I believe the boys are now ready and determined to do the job against Rwanda and South Africa,” Ikpeba told SuperSport.
