Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has set Old Trafford buzzing with one of the rawest outbursts ever heard from a Red Devils boss, admitting there are days he “hates” his players and even feels like quitting the job.

The 40-year-old Portuguese dropped the bombshell after United’s shocking Carabao Cup exit to League Two minnows Grimsby Town, the first time in history the 20-time champions have been dumped out by a fourth-tier side.

“Sometimes I hate my players, sometimes I love my players. Sometimes I want to quit, sometimes I want to stay here for 20 years,” Amorim confessed.

The comments have fueled fresh doubts about his long-term future at Old Trafford, especially as he warned that “something has to change” and promised urgent talks with the club’s hierarchy.

But Amorim doubled down on Friday, insisting he won’t tone down his emotions for the cameras.
“I know people want me to be calm with the media. But I’m not going to be like that. That’s why I have the passion I have. I was upset, I was disappointed, and I’m going to be who I am. So prepare yourself.”

United’s American owners, who splashed nearly £200m on new forwards this summer, are still standing behind him for now. But with zero wins this season — after falling to Arsenal and being held by Fulham — the pressure is bubbling.

Next stop is Burnley. And Amorim knows if his men don’t deliver, his emotional rollercoaster could throw him straight off the tracks.
