“We have parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who has been the manager of our Professional Football A Team since the 2024-2025 season. We thank him for his efforts and wish him success in his future career,” the club stated.
Turkish football powerhouse Fenerbahce Sports Club has officially announced the departure of Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho after just one season at the helm.
In a statement released Friday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the club confirmed the end of Mourinho’s tenure, which began at the start of the 2024/2025 season.
“We have parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who has been the manager of our Professional Football A Team since the 2024-2025 season. We thank him for his efforts and wish him success in his future career,” the club stated.
The 62-year-old tactician, known for his stints at Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, was unveiled with great fanfare in June 2024, raising expectations among fans and analysts alike.
However, Mourinho’s time in Istanbul was marred by inconsistent performances both in the Turkish Super Lig and European competitions. Despite flashes of tactical brilliance, Fenerbahce failed to meet key objectives under his leadership.
The club has yet to announce a replacement or outline its next steps heading into the new season.
