APC, has fired back at speculations surrounding Goodluck Jonathan’s possible return in 2027, insisting he stands no chance against President Bola Tinubu.

The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has fired back at speculations surrounding former President Goodluck Jonathan’s possible return in 2027, insisting he stands no chance against President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Friday, APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, dismissed Jonathan’s rumored comeback as a distraction rooted in “nostalgia and sentiment,” stressing that Nigeria had “moved beyond” the kind of leadership Jonathan once offered.

Oladejo said Jonathan’s past administration (2010–2015) left the country with “severe structural weaknesses,” from corruption and insecurity to economic stagnation. He warned that any attempt by Jonathan to stage a comeback would only stir legal battles and political instability that Nigeria could ill afford.

According to him, while Jonathan’s legacy as a peaceful democrat was not in doubt, “legacies are not manifestoes, and nostalgia is not governance.”

The APC spokesman also raised questions about Jonathan’s political relevance, pointing to his “flirtation with the APC” and lack of commitment to rebuilding the PDP, which he once led.

Oladejo concluded that Nigeria’s future does not lie in “recycled leadership” but in bold, visionary governance capable of tackling today’s realities.
