Tottenham Hotspur’s unbeaten start to the 2025-26 Premier League season came to a shocking end as Bournemouth secured a 1-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thanks to an early goal by Francisco Evanilson.

The result halted Spurs’ momentum under new manager Thomas Frank, who had guided the team to back-to-back wins, including a 2-0 triumph over Manchester City.

According to BBC, Evanilson’s strike in the fifth minute, the second-fastest goal in the Premier League this season, set the tone for Bournemouth’s dominant performance.

The Cherries’ high-pressing style, a hallmark of manager Andoni Iraola, overwhelmed Tottenham, who failed to register a shot in the first half.

Bournemouth recorded 19 shots to Tottenham’s five, with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario making key saves to prevent a heavier defeat.

Bournemouth’s relentless pressure was evident early, as Evanilson capitalized on a defensive lapse to score.

Despite chances to extend their lead, including David Brooks hitting the crossbar and Evanilson being denied by Vicario, Bournemouth held firm.

The visitors’ only setback was an early injury to captain Adam Smith, suspected to be a hamstring issue.

Tottenham, previously lauded for their defensive solidity with consecutive clean sheets, struggled to cope with Bournemouth’s intensity.

Sportskeeda highlighted Spurs’ attacking woes, noting the absence of key players like James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski due to injuries.

A late header from Destiny Udogie in stoppage time was Tottenham’s best chance, but it went wide, sealing their fate.

The defeat leaves Tottenham level on points with Bournemouth, both with two wins from three matches.

For Frank, the loss raises questions about his squad’s ability to maintain their early-season form, while Iraola’s Bournemouth celebrated a statement win, proving their resilience after a recent EFL Cup exit.
