The Deaf Super Eagles of Nigeria of Nigeria on Saturday defeated the Deaf Senior National football team of the Gambia, 4-1 on penalties to emerge champions of the just concluded 13th West Africa Deaf football/3rd Athletics Championships held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja

The match ended 1-1 at full time with Nigeria drawing the first blood through Salaudeen Saleh in the first half while Gambia equalised in the second half of the energy sapped encounter.

With the scoreline reading 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes regulation time, only penalties were used to separate the two teams.

Nigeria scored 4 while Gambia managed to put in one.

The victory now made it the 6th time Nigeria will win the trophy unlike Gambia that never won it once.
Sierra Leone will host the next edition of the championship in 2026 having won the right to host.
