Deaf Super Eagles beat Gambia 4-1 on Penalties

……Lift their 6th WADU Trophy

The Deaf Super Eagles of Nigeria of Nigeria on Saturday defeated the Deaf Senior National football team of the Gambia, 4-1 on penalties to emerge champions of the just concluded 13th West Africa Deaf football/3rd Athletics Championships held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja

The match ended 1-1 at full time with Nigeria drawing the first blood through Salaudeen Saleh in the first half while Gambia equalised in the second half of the energy sapped encounter.

With the scoreline reading 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes regulation time, only penalties were used to separate the two teams.

Nigeria scored 4 while Gambia managed to put in one.

The victory now made it the 6th time Nigeria will win the trophy unlike Gambia that never won it once.
Sierra Leone will host the next edition of the championship in 2026 having won the right to host.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko who kicked-off the final match and and watch the match from Strat to finish before handing over the WADSU trophy to the Deaf Super Eagles of Nigeria accompanied by Mr Tchangnou Sadeck, Sports Programme Officer at ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre.

As hosts, Nigeria also dominated proceedings in the 3rd edition of the Deaf Athletics championship
Meanwhile ,the NSC chairman has promised to officially receive the victorious Nigeria team in his office on Monday.
