The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) served up drama and excitement on Matchday 3, with Enyimba International recording their first win of the season, Rivers United edging Kwara United, while Katsina United shocked Plateau United away from home.
In Aba, eight-time champions Enyimba defeated newly promoted Ikorodu City 1-0. Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim struck the decisive goal in the second half, giving the People’s Elephant their first victory after opening the campaign with back-to-back draws.
At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers United claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Kwara United. Goals from Abiodun Akande and Ubong Friday put the hosts in control before Kwara pulled one back late on, but the Pride of Rivers held firm to secure all three points.
The biggest upset of the day came in Katsina, where Katsina United stunned Plateau United 1-0. A solitary strike from Mohammed Ibrahim condemned the Peace Boys to their first defeat of the season, silencing their traveling supporters.
