BREAKING: Isak completes £125m switch from Newcastle, to undergo medicals today at Liverpool

Liverpool have agreed to pay a British record fee of £125m to sign striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

According to BBC Sport, both clubs have reached an agreement, and the Swedish striker will have his medical on Monday before signing a six-year deal at Anfield.

Liverpool had earlier offered £110m in August, but Newcastle rejected it. Now, they are set to finally secure their top transfer target of the summer.

The long transfer saga looks to be ending on the final day of the summer window. It comes just after Newcastle signed striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.

Earlier in the summer, Isak did not join Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia, with the club saying he had a “minor thigh injury.” But reports suggested he wanted to leave.

During that time, he trained alone at his old club, Real Sociedad, before Liverpool’s first bid was turned down.

With speculation growing, Isak later released a statement accusing Newcastle of breaking promises, saying their “relationship can’t continue.”
