Football Transfer: PSG’s Donnarumma Joins Manchester City

Gianluigi Donnarumma knocked out by COVID-19

Quick Read

The 26-year-old has been searching for a new club since PSG decided he was no longer part of their plans, despite playing a big role in their Champions League victory last season.

Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to join Manchester City on transfer deadline day after the club agreed a €35 million ($41 million) deal with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The 26-year-old has been searching for a new club since PSG decided he was no longer part of their plans, despite playing a big role in their Champions League victory last season.

PSG recently signed 23-year-old Lucas Chevalier from Lille, and coach Luis Enrique confirmed that the young Frenchman will be his first-choice goalkeeper this season.

It was earlier thought that Donnarumma would only move to City if Ederson, their main goalkeeper, left the club. However, reports now say an agreement has been reached for Donnarumma to make the switch.

City also signed James Trafford from Burnley this summer, and he started the team’s first three Premier League matches. But the 21-year-old has struggled to impress, opening the door for Donnarumma’s arrival.
