Nigerian singer, Obumneme Ali, popularly known as Smash of the music duo Bracket, has described the long-running rift between the Okoye brothers, Peter and Paul of P-Square, as “spiritual.”
Speaking on a recent episode of the AFRIMMA Podcast alongside his partner, Vast, Smash revealed that Paul himself acknowledged the feud had a spiritual undertone.
Smash said although he is closer to Paul, he often visits Peter and is listened to whenever he speaks with him. However, he maintained that the situation goes beyond what many may think.
“I’m closer to Paul than Peter but I always go to Peter’s house and he listens to me whenever I speak to him. But unfortunately, if you ask me as an in-house, I will say that problem is spiritual,” Smash said.
He further revealed that he once confronted Paul about it.
“The last time I met Paul I told him his problem with his brother Peter wasn’t normal, that it’s spiritual, and he agreed. If you know how close these guys were and how they worked, you will feel so bad looking at what is going on today. Jude was part of P-Square. Paul and Peter loved that brand with so much passion.”
The Okoye twins, who shot to fame as P-Square, shocked fans when they split in 2017 after years of dominating the Nigerian and African music industry with multiple hit songs and sold-out shows.
Despite reconciling briefly in 2021, their relationship has remained strained.
