Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), has expressed joy at the performance of young swimmers representing Lagos at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
Speaking with NationSport, Fatodu said he was impressed with the quality of athletes in the Under-15 swimming category, describing them as future stars who could soon represent Nigeria internationally.
“I am very excited about the quality of athletes competing in swimming Under-15. This is the right way to grow talent in Nigeria. These young people are very promising, and I am confident they will one day represent Nigeria at the world level,” he said.
He also praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting Lagos athletes, especially in swimming.
“I must give credit to Governor Sanwo-Olu, who has made these results possible. You haven’t seen anything yet, because Lagos is prepared to do even better,” Fatodu added.
Looking ahead, he assured that Lagos is fully ready to host the 2026 edition of the National Youth Games, promising a world-class event.
“We are very prepared for the hosting of the next National Youth Games. Lagos is known for excellence, and the event will be spectacular. The sports community should expect a unique and memorable experience,” he said.
