The University of Ilorin Sociology Class of 1999 has successfully celebrated its 25th anniversary with a colourful “Mega Reunion” held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Bako Omogiafo Hall, Bade Ojajuni Street, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos.
The event was marked by pomp and pageantry as alumni from across the country reunited in an atmosphere filled with joy, laughter, and nostalgia.
Many were meeting for the first time since graduation, and the excitement was evident as old friends exchanged warm pleasantries and posed for group photographs to capture the milestone moment.
Adding glamour to the celebration, a live music band serenaded the guests throughout the evening, creating a lively backdrop for the festivities. There was plenty to eat and drink, ensuring that the gathering was as much a feast as it was a reunion.
The occasion also became a family affair, with several alumni attending alongside their spouses and children, turning the silver jubilee into a true celebration of community and shared legacy.
Highlights of the evening included goodwill messages, reflections on the group’s contributions to their alma mater, and renewed pledges to strengthen the bond of friendship that has endured for 25 years.

In his closing remarks, the class president, Mr. Sola Peters Akinlade, expressed gratitude to all who made the reunion possible, noting that the turnout and energy proved the group’s unity was stronger than ever. He emphasized the importance of sustaining the tradition of giving back to the Department of Sociology and the university at large.
