Impact of GenHealth awareness project in improving community health in Nigeria

Our first edition in Oyo State (2024) reached nearly 500 people, providing free genotype, blood group, and hepatitis B tests with professional guidance. The outcomes highlighted the urgency of expanding this intervention.

The upcoming Ile-Ife edition targets 2,000–3,000 residents, advancing SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) by helping more people know their health status and make safer family and lifestyle decisions. While each participant’s tests are typically valued at about ₦6,500, all screenings will be free to beneficiaries through support from people like you.

Program Schedule 20th and 21st of September, 2025. Venues are: Day 1 OAU MAINTAINANCE HOSTEL GATE for people around mayfair down to Damico and eleweran and beyond.
Day 2: Enuwa town hall for people around lagere and inside ife

Registration & Pre-test Briefing: Participant registration, consent, and vitals.

Sample Collection: Genotype, blood group, and hepatitis B screenings.

Health Symposium 4th of October, 2025 (before results collection): OAUTHC health professionals will educate participants on genotype, blood group, and hepatitis B and address questions.

Results & Counseling: Individual result collection with post-test counseling, risk guidance, and referrals where necessary.

Follow-Up & Reporting: Linkage to care (including HBV vaccination/referral) and summary reporting.
