Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has announced a temporary suspension of his public engagements following a health scare.
Obi revealed that he began feeling unwell on Friday while attending a tourism event in Enugu.
He said after medical consultation, he was advised by his doctor to take one or two days off for rest and recovery.
“Earlier in Enugu, I was not feeling well. I visited the hospital where the doctor gave me some medication and advised me to take a day or two days rest,” Obi disclosed.
The former governor, who later travelled to Anambra State where he donated ₦10 million towards the revitalisation of the Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, said he regretted that the situation would prevent him from meeting both local and international commitments.
“I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this might cause and humbly plead for understanding,” he added.
Despite his health challenge, Obi reiterated his commitment to supporting Nigeria’s healthcare sector, stressing that investment in hospitals and training institutions remains crucial for the nation’s development.
