The Jigawa State Police Command has smashed a drug cartel operating across five local government areas, arresting 13 suspects in coordinated raids.

Police spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu, said the suspects, aged between 18 and 40, were picked up in Dutse, Guri, Roni, Birnin Kudu, Babura and even Nguru in neighbouring Yobe State.

The crackdown, he explained, followed intelligence reports that exposed hideouts and black spots where drugs were being peddled.

During the raids, officers recovered 704 pieces of Exol, 264 Tramadol tablets, three Diazepam tablets, 2,042 D5 tablets, 48 rubber solutions, 148 wraps and four blocks of Indian hemp. Also seized were a suspected stolen Vivo phone, 602 red-and-white capsules and six litres of unidentified liquid substances.

Shiisu confirmed that investigations had been concluded and all 13 suspects have been charged in court.

The Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, warned that criminals have no hiding place in Jigawa, urging residents to keep supplying timely intelligence to the command.

“The Command assures residents of its dedication to sustaining peace, safety, and security across all communities,” he said.
