The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has seized 75 different types of contraband in the last 15 months.
According to a report highlighting the achievements of Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller, the seizures included rifles, ammunition, expired drugs, fake medicines, banned substances such as codeine and tramadol, second-hand clothes, expired margarine, wildlife skins, and stolen vehicles.
The command also intercepted containers filled with stolen vehicles, restricted security gadgets like drones, and telecommunication devices. Among them were 60 units of warrior drones without valid End-User Certificates, 53 helicopter drones valued at about ₦2.1 billion, and 10 professional FM transceivers.
The report further revealed that the Apapa Command generated ₦3.7 trillion in revenue between May 2024 and July 2025.
- In 2024, it collected ₦175.1bn in May, ₦178.2bn in June, ₦201.8bn in July, ₦189.5bn in August, ₦193.9bn in September, ₦264.4bn in October, ₦229.3bn in November, and ₦252.5bn in December.
- In 2025, it collected ₦269.3bn in January, ₦216.9bn in February, ₦215.9bn in March, ₦230.7bn in April, ₦230.7bn in May, ₦209.1bn in June, ₦214.5bn in July, and ₦215bn in August.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, praised Olomu and his team for protecting Nigeria’s security and generating huge revenue.
He said:
“Apapa Command handles the highest volume of trade for Customs and collects the most revenue. I urge them to continue this performance. Let me also advise port users to engage only in legitimate trade. Customs is fully committed to exposing all forms of smuggling and concealment
