The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 13 suspected drug peddlers during coordinated operations across five Local Government Areas.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Dutse on Sunday.

Shiisu explained that the arrests were made following credible intelligence reports, which led to targeted raids on known criminal hideouts in the affected areas.

He noted that the renewed effort to rid Jigawa of crime and criminality involved coordinated operations carried out by special teams from the Dutse, Guri, Birnin Kudu, Bamaina, Babura, and Roni divisions.

According to the police spokesperson, the crackdown resulted in the arrest of 13 individuals, aged between 18 and 40, from various locations including Dutse, Guri, Roni, Birnin Kudu, Babura, and Nguru in neighbouring Yobe State.

Items recovered during the raids included:

704 pieces of Exol

264 Tramadol tablets

Three Diazepam tablets

2,042 D5 tablets

48 rubber solutions

148 wraps and four blocks of Indian hemp

Other items seized included a suspected stolen Vivo mobile phone, 602 red and white capsules, and six litres of unidentified liquid substances.

Shiisu stated that the suspects have been charged in court following the conclusion of discreet investigations.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Mr Dahiru Muhammad, as reaffirming the Command’s dedication to keeping Jigawa safe and issuing a stern warning to those involved in criminal activities to desist or face legal consequences.

The Commissioner also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid policing efforts.

“The Command assures residents of its unwavering commitment to sustaining peace, safety, and security across all communities,” Shiisu added.
