“With nothing of value to offer Nigerians, these opposition elements have become political prophets, making predictions about 2027 that reflect their own desperation,” Morka said.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rejected allegations made by former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, accusing President Bola Tinubu and the ruling party of attempting to destabilise opposition parties.

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described Tambuwal’s claims as baseless and lacking evidence, insisting that the President and the party remain solely focused on governance and national development.

Tambuwal, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, alleged that Tinubu and the APC were working to undermine opposition parties and vowed to rally support to defeat them in the 2027 general elections.

Responding, Morka stated that Tambuwal and other opposition leaders were more concerned with personal ambition and power than with providing meaningful alternatives to Nigerians.

“With nothing of value to offer Nigerians, these opposition elements have become political prophets, making predictions about 2027 that reflect their own desperation,” Morka said.

He added that the APC would continue to build internal democratic structures and improve governance, while President Tinubu remains committed to addressing longstanding economic challenges and setting the country on a path of sustainable growth.

Morka criticised opposition politics in Nigeria, arguing it had become dominated by opportunism, misinformation, and personal grievances rather than principled policy debates.

“It is not simply about switching parties for selfish gain or pushing false narratives. Opposition politics should not be about weaponising grudges or smear campaigns,” he said.

The APC spokesperson singled out prominent opposition figures, including Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi,  accusing them of failing to provide visionary leadership within their respective parties.

“Despite having held some of the highest offices in the land, they have failed, and failed woefully, to give direction, purpose, or credibility to their parties. Rather than build viable opposition platforms, they engage in blame games,” Morka added.

He emphasised that democratic opposition should serve to hold governments accountable and offer credible policy alternatives, but that such roles have been abandoned by today’s opposition leaders.

Morka also addressed the ongoing investigation of Tambuwal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over alleged unlawful cash withdrawals amounting to ₦189 billion. He dismissed Tambuwal’s suggestion that the probe is politically motivated.

“No one is above the law, not even members of the opposition. Trying to shield oneself from scrutiny by playing the victim will not work. Emotional blackmail is not a defence against legitimate investigation,” he said.

Reiterating the APC’s position, Morka insisted the ruling party is not interested in interfering in the affairs of opposition parties, which he described as “already broken by internal contradictions.”

“President Tinubu and the APC are fully engaged in the work of rebuilding the country. We have no time or interest in meddling in fractured opposition parties,” he said.

He concluded by dismissing attempts to form a united opposition coalition, noting that such efforts are failing due to internal strife and personal ambition among leaders.

“The so-called coalition is unravelling due to the hostile takeover of the African Democratic Congress and the unchecked arrogance and desperation of its leaders.”
