The Adara Development Association (ADA) has alleged that eight people were killed while nine others were injured in an attack by heavily armed gunmen on Wakeh community in Agunu Ward, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Security expert, Zagazola Makama, quoted ADA National Publicity Secretary, Livinus Paul Magaji as making the claim in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, the armed gunmen invaded the village, blocking entrance routes to prevent possible assistance from neighbouring communities.

ADA added that while eight people who were shot dead by the armed men were given mass burial, the injured persons are receiving treatment at St. Gerald Catholic Hospital, Kakuri, Alheri area of the state.

ADA expressed deep shock and sadness over the deadly attack by gunmen in which, according to it, properties, including a bus, were also destroyed

The association said that such attacks have become increasingly frequent in Adara communities since, despite the presence of security in the area. ADA strongly condemned the violence, describing it as barbaric and inhumane.

“ADA leadership calls on the Kaduna State Government and other relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action to protect lives and property and to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice,” the statement said.

The group that the people of Adara community are ready to collaborate with government and security agencies to curb the attacks by the gunmen.

The association also expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.

While wishing speedy recovery to those injured, it urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.

The Kaduna state government has not made any comment on the alleged massacre.
