President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of Chief (Mrs.) Leila Euphemia Apinke Fowler, a respected lawyer, educationist, and founder of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos.
Mrs. Fowler, who held the title of Yeye Mofin of Lagos and was the mother of former Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Babatunde Fowler, passed away at the age of 92.
In a condolence message released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described her death as “a big loss to her family, friends, and the entire nation, especially the education sector, where she stood out as a pioneer.”
The President praised her for her lifelong service to education, noting her role in establishing the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, which has helped many young women achieve success.
“Through her school, she laid the foundation for excellence, empowering generations of young women to reach their full potential,” Tinubu said. “Her impact will remain with us, and her name will be remembered with love.”
Tinubu extended condolences to the Fowler family, the staff and students of her school, and the people of Lagos State. He prayed for God to give her eternal rest and comfort those mourning her death.
