The Nigerian Senate has told Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, that she cannot return to her seat yet even though her six-month suspension has ended.
In a letter signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, dated September 4, 2025, the Senate acknowledged Natasha’s notice that she wanted to resume on that date. She said her suspension had expired.
But the Senate explained that since Natasha had taken the matter to the Court of Appeal, her suspension would not be lifted until the court delivers its judgment.
“The matter is still before the court, and until the case is decided, the Senate cannot take any action to let you resume,” the letter stated.
The Senate said it would only review her suspension after the court rules on the case.
