The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) exams, showing improved performance in Mathematics.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, announced in Abuja on Thursday that 92,875 candidates registered across 1,892 centres nationwide, a 37.08% increase in enrolment compared to 2024. The number of exam centres also rose by 10.77%.
Candidates sat for 16 Engineering Trades, seven Construction Trades, nine Miscellaneous Trades, four Business Trades, and 16 General Education subjects. Out of 89,621 candidates whose results were released, 61,104 (68.18%) scored five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, while 74,633 candidates (83.28%) scored five credits or more with or without English Language and Mathematics.
Dr. Mohammed highlighted a notable improvement in Mathematics, with 94.6% of candidates passing, compared to 93.1% for English Language, which saw a slight decline in performance.
On examination malpractice, 435 candidates were implicated in 516 cases—down from 349 candidates in 524 cases in 2024—showing a decrease in cheating incidents.
Registration for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and Advanced NBC/NTC (ANBC/ANTC) exams has already commenced. Candidates can register via the NABTEB portal or visit any state or zonal office for guidelines.
Dr. Mohammed emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education in national development. “In today’s 21st-century world, comprehensive Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) is highly crucial,” he said.
NABTEB, established under Decree No. 70 of 1993, was created to take over technical and business examinations previously run by foreign bodies such as RSA, City & Guilds, and WAEC, ensuring nationally relevant certification. The NBC/NTC exams remain key to equipping learners with practical, employable skills in vocational and technical fields.
