The Nigerian army has rescued 17 passengers who were kidnapped in Kogi state. The rescue mission which was carried out by the troops of the 12 Brigade and hybrid forces was successful, freeing 13 adults and 4 children that were kidnapped while travelling from Osun State to Abuja.
The announcement which was made on Thursday revealed that the troops also recovered 4 other victims that were already in the kidnappers’ den.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday at Opamaru village, along Obajana–Lokoja Road.
He also revealed that the kidnappers fled the scene after they were overpowered by the troops.
