Veteran Nigerian comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Alibaba, has shared his reaction to the shocking assassination of U.S. conservative activist, Charlie Kirk.
Speaking in a recent video, Alibaba described the incident as tragic but admitted he was relieved that the alleged assassin was not a Black or Arab individual.
According to him, the situation would have sparked even greater controversy if a person of color had been linked to the crime.
“I can’t put into words how relieved I was when I found out the suspect wasn’t Black. It would have been worse,” the comedian said.
Authorities have identified the suspected shooter as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah. Robinson reportedly came from a conservative, pro-gun Republican family, the same political affiliation as Kirk. Despite being registered as a nonpartisan voter, reports suggest Robinson grew increasingly political in recent years and had openly criticized Kirk during family gatherings, accusing him of “spreading hate.”
Robinson briefly attended Utah State University in 2021 after winning a scholarship but dropped out after one semester, despite boasting an impressive ACT score of 34.
