EPL: West Ham falls heavily to Tottenham

Quick Read

West Ham suffered another Premier League setback as Tottenham Hotspur ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at the London Stadium on Saturday.

West Ham suffered another Premier League setback as Tottenham Hotspur ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at the London Stadium on Saturday.

The Hammers, already struggling at home this season, fell behind shortly after the restart when Pape Matar Sarr headed Tottenham ahead. Things went from bad to worse in the 54th minute as Tomas Soucek was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Joao Palhinha.

Almost immediately after the sending off, Lucas Bergvall doubled Spurs’ advantage with a looping header, and Micky van de Ven added a third just after the hour mark to seal the victory.

The result leaves West Ham winless at home since February and enduring a troubling start to the season, having conceded eight goals in just two home matches. Tottenham, meanwhile, move level on points with leaders Arsenal and continue their strong early-season form.

For Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, it was another milestone, becoming only the third Tottenham boss to win his first two away top-flight games, joining Ossie Ardiles and Tim Sherwood.
