“It’s a shame and an atrocity that someone had the audacity to play God and think that they could walk up to somebody’s door and just take their life, especially when 21 is when your life is just beginning,” Talea Wufka, 53, a local community activist, said. “Like, you know, all these talks of her being a woman — she’s a young lady.”
A gunman fatally shot a 21-year-old woman in the head outside her two-story row house in Queens, police sources said Friday.
Dashanna Donovan was found lying by the home’s back door on 96th St. near Astoria Blvd. in East Elmhurst at around 9:20 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Donovan had lived for around a year at the address with her aunt, who has lived there for years, the activist said.
A house key attached to a keychain, with a little metal boot dangling off it, was still in the back door when police arrived at the scene, leading investigators to believe Donovan had just returned home when she was shot.
Multiple rounds were recovered at the address, according to police. The shooter fled the scene.
The victim’s aunt was too devastated to speak to reporters Saturday evening.
It was not immediately clear if the suspect had targeted Donovan or if a stray bullet had hit the young woman.
No arrests had been made as of Saturday. Cops said they were scouring the area for surveillance footage that would help them identify the shooter, the Daily News reports.
