Gunmen have abducted Rev. Fr. Wilfred Ezemba, parish priest of St. Paul Parish, Agaliga-Efabo in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The priest was seized on Saturday at Imane, along the Imane–Ogugu road, alongside some yet-to-be-identified commuters.
His disappearance has thrown the Catholic community into panic. A fellow priest, identified as Fr. Michael, told reporters: “Since his abduction three days ago, the kidnappers have not made contact. But we are confident that God will deliver him safely. We strongly believe in the power of prayers, and we trust he will regain his freedom.”
Security agencies, including troops, police operatives, and the Kogi East Neighbourhood Watch, have reportedly stormed nearby forests in search of the abductors.
This is the second kidnap case in Olamaboro within a week. On September 7, a legal practitioner, Barrister A.B. Shaibu, was also kidnapped along Etieke–Okugoh road. He was freed last Thursday after his family secured his release.
