How Melania Trump nearly broke royal protocol

First Lady Melania Trump caused a stir at Windsor Castle when she arrived at the State Banquet hosted by King Charles for President Donald Trump in a bold yellow off-the-shoulder gown.

The Carolina Herrera dress, cinched with a lilac waist belt and paired with Manolo Blahnik heels and emerald-diamond jewelry, was anything but understated. Royal watchers quickly noted that exposing shoulders at such formal events is traditionally frowned upon, though the rules have softened in recent years.

Reactions online were split. While some applauded the daring look, others slammed it as inappropriate. One X user wrote: “I do not care for Melania’s dress. A rare miss for her. Not flattering and the color yellow is too harsh.”

The 55-year-old also stirred conversation after she skipped the customary curtsy when meeting Queen Camilla and Princess Catherine  another move some saw as a breach of etiquette.

Earlier in the day, Melania had kept things formal in a black skirt suit and oversized purple hat before switching into the gown that set social media alight.
