The Red Cross Society of China, through the Chinese Embassy, has given 1,000 family kits to the Nigerian Red Cross Society to help people affected by recent floods in Nigeria.

The handover took place at the Nigerian Red Cross National Headquarters inAbuja on Friday.

Mr. Zhou Hongyou, Minister at the Chinese Embassy, said the donation shows China’s support for Nigeria during this difficult time.

“Floods have caused loss of lives and damage to property in Nigeria. We send our condolences to all affected families,” Zhou said.

He explained that the donation represents China’s commitment to humanitarian cooperation and people-focused development, in line with President Xi Jinping’s global initiatives. Zhou also expressed confidence that with Nigeria’s leadership, communities will recover and rebuild.

Dr. Abubakar Kende, Secretary-General of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, thanked China for its generous support.

He said the items would go to victims in Niger State and other badly affected areas.

Kende added that Chinese officials are welcome to visit flood-hit communities in Makwa, Niger State, to see the situation firsthand.

He stressed that the Nigerian Red Cross will continue working with the government in disaster response and appreciated China’s ongoing solidarity.
