The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran.
His younger brother, Yemi Remi, has opened up about the circumstances surrounding the actor’s sudden passing, revealing that he showed no signs of illness before his death.
Speaking in a YouTube interview, Yemi disclosed that the actor had attended a church programme on Friday, August 15, where he danced joyfully. He also recounted that they had spoken a day earlier about meeting up, but the reunion never happened.
“He wasn’t sick. The Friday before he died, he went for a church programme and people said he danced so well. He even called me on Thursday and said we’d meet the next day. Sadly, I was later called that he had slumped in the bathroom. Before they could rush him to the hospital, he was gone,” Yemi said.
Chief Kanran’s death was first announced by producer Seun Oloketuyi. The actor was laid to rest on Friday, September 12, at his residence in Beckley Estate, Abule Egba, Lagos.
